Miley Cyrus’ wild Grammys bouffant hairstyle compared to Kurt Russell — and Margaret Thatcher

It definitely was not a Nashville party.
Miley Cyrus was poked fun at several times during the 2024 Grammy Awards after several internet trolls compared her to actor Kurt Russell.
The country-turned-pop star sent viewers scrambling to X (formerly Twitter) to weigh in after the “Party in the USA” songstress arrived on the red carpet in a custom gold Maison Margiela naked dress.
As if that wasn’t enough, Cyrus, 31, teased her hair in a massive beehive that had many wondering if she was honoring her godmother, Dolly Parton.
“What’s going on with Miley Cyrus’ hair,” one person on X remarked of the bouffant hairstyle.
“Miley Cyrus trying to single-handedly bring back big 80s hair,” a second person quipped.
“Miley’s custom Margiela moment is so good and the hair definitely feels like a callback to Dolly Parton,” read a third tweet.
“I loved Miley’s hairdresser’s tribute to Kurt Russell,” sneered another critic.
The critic’s tweet refers to Russell’s ’80s hairstyle, which he famously rocked in the 1987 film “Overboard” with longtime partner Goldie Hawn, and several other subsequent films.
Another netizen, meanwhile, went as far as to call the “Wrecking Ball” singer “‘The Crown’ version of Margaret Thatcher tonight.”
“Miley Cyrus got electrocuted apparently,” jeered another on the social media platform.
Bob Recine, who served as the singer’s hairstylist for the night, revealed that he used copious amounts of Nexxus to achieve the curled voluminous look.
“This last year l featured Miley’s wet look for hair,” he said in a press release. “For the Grammys, we decided we wanted something dry and bigger, more fuller hair, but sexy and tousled and touchable.”
Despite all the online hate, Cyrus had an extraordinary night.
The Tennessee native managed to secure the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Flowers” during the opening minutes of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, and then later took the stage to perform the aforementioned song.
During her set, Cyrus berated the crowd for their tepid reception, commenting: “Why are you acting like you don’t know this song?” Luckily, Taylor Swift and Oprah Winfrey were dancing from their seats.
Cyrus, who was nominated for six awards in total, went on to win the coveted Record of the Year award at the end of the night.
“This award is amazing. But I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday,” Cyrus said in her acceptance speech. “Not everyone in the world will get a Grammy, but everyone in this world is spectacular.”
“So please don’t think that this is important, even though it’s very important, right guys,” she continued. “I don’t think I forgot anyone. But I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!”
