Former Chiefs quarterback Chase Daniel is feeling the Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift effect
Daniel, who announced his retirement in September after 14 seasons in the NFL, said Swifties found a past photo of he and his wife Hillary Daniel with the singer at her “1989 Tour” in 2015, and he’s anticipating the spotlight.
The former Super Bowl champ — who played for the Chiefs from 2013-15 — gifted Swift with a No. 89 Chiefs jersey when they met backstage at her concert on Sept. 23, 2015.
Daniel reposted the photo, which showed Swift holding the jersey, and wrote on X Monday, “The #Swifties found this post & are circulating it…my life is about to change.”
At the time, Daniel thanked Swift for hosting him and his wife at her concert.
“We gave Taylor her own @chiefs jersey 4 the 1989 Tour!” he wrote in 2015.
Some X users were skeptical about the validity of the photo, but Daniel assured one Swiftie that the image is “real.”
Fans didn’t have to look too far back in the archives of Daniel’s social media posts to find the photo.
He posted the same snap to his Instagram page on Sept. 24, and joked, “maybe I predicted the whole thing,” referring to the couple’s whirlwind romance, which has become a pop culture phenomenon.
“Unlike my guy @killatrav, I had no problem getting backstage,” Daniel wrote at the time. “Gave @taylorswift her first @chiefs jersey in 2015. Was only a few numbers off.”
Kelce discussed his relationship with Swift during an appearance on Daniel’s “Chasin It” podcast with Trey Wingo the next week — when he was asked if he anticipated the Kelce-Swift craze would be this big.
“I had no idea, man,” Kelce said. “You can’t tell me that anyone else did either.
“But I can’t be mad about how it’s all played out, I will say that.”
Kelce and Swift went public with their relationship in October, when they were seen holding hands while out together in New York City.
