Danny DeVito: Arnold Schwarzenegger should have done ‘Twins 2’ instead of becoming governor

Danny DeVito wishes that his longtime pal Arnold Schwarzenegger did another movie with him instead of becoming the governor of California.

The “Taxi” star, 78, and the former politician, 76, starred in the 1988 buddy comedy “Twins” together.

DeVito quipped that Schwarzenegger should have done the sequel as an alternative route to politics.

“Arnold and I want to work together. We missed ‘Twins 2’ because he became governor — which, he should have done ‘Twins 2’ instead of becoming governor,” DeVito said in a new interview with GQ.

The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor added: “Now we have a little thing going, a little project that we’ve been chatting about.”

The “Terminator” actor and DeVito are in the midst of planning something, but the comedic powerhouse said it has no relation to their Ivan Reitman-directed ’80s flick.

“No, it’s just two friends, two guys, because we have a good time together,” DeVito said.

DeVito went on: “We complement each other in a lot of ways. I am way stronger than he is.”

Schwarzenegger was elected governor of the Golden State in 2003 and served until 2011.

In May, the action star got candid with the Hollywood Reporter about how much he wanted to be a part of “Twins 2,” which was in the works just recently.

But “Ghostbusters” director Reitman died last year, and his son, Jason, halted production on the “Twins” sequel.

“Jason Reitman f–ked it up! Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,” the Austrian-American bodybuilder said.

He went on: “His father wanted to do it really badly. I wanted to do it really badly. Danny DeVito wanted to do it really badly. We had the financing. When his father passed away, Jason says, ‘I never liked the idea,’ and put a hold on it.”

“Twins” chronicled the adventures of two fraternal twin brothers (DeVito and Schwarzenegger) who were separated at birth.

Kelly Preston, Chloe Webb, Bonnie Bartlett, David Caruso and Heather Graham also have parts in the funny flick.
