“Friends” star Matthew Perry shared an eery final photo on Instagram just days before his death at age 54.
The actor posted a photo of himself relaxed in a jacuzzi as he wore headphones on October 23.
“Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,” he captioned the post.
That say day, he shared a video of the moon and gave a reference to Batman. “Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you? – I’m Mattman,” he wrote.
Five days later, Perry would die of an apparent drowning. According to TMZ, the beloved star was reportedly discovered dead in the jacuzzi of a home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood just after 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Sources told the outlet that no drugs were found at the scene and no foul play is suspected.
“We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 pm this afternoon. He was in his 50s,” the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
Perry had reportedly been in rehab 15 times and had undergone 14 surgeries over the years. He opened up about his struggles in detail in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.”
And it was “Friends” costar Jennifer Aniston who called him out on his drug use while they filmed the NBC sitcom.
“I had long since gotten over her – ever since she started dating Brad Pitt, I was fine – and had worked out exactly how long to look at her without it being awkward, but still, to be confronted by Jennifer Aniston was devastating. And I was confused,” he wrote, recalling the actress said “I know you’re drinking.”
“I was the injured penguin, but I was determined to not let these wonderful people, and this show, down,” he wrote. “‘We can smell it,’ she said, in a kind of weird but loving way, and the plural ‘we’ hit me like a sledgehammer.”
Perry had been sharing more photos than usual on his social media account as of late. On October 15, he posted a rare photo of his lookalike father, John Bennett Perry, as they both posed in what appeared to be his living room.
“Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage,” he wrote.
Perry starred as Chandler Bing on “Friends” for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. He and his co-stars — Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc — reunited for a 2021 HBO Max special.
