2024 Super Bowl odds: How the trade deadline affects the big picture

[ad_1]

Player movement at the NFL’s trade deadline seems to increase by the year and is now a spot to look at when tracking Super Bowl odds.

Some notable trades include defensive end Chase Young reconnecting with former Ohio State teammate Nick Bosa in San Francisco and the Jaguars acquiring offensive guard Ezra Cleveland from the Vikings.

Sure enough, those two teams saw a drastic odds shift from Monday to Wednesday now that the deadline has come and gone.

The Jaguars moved slightly from +1700 to +1600, while the 49ers moved from +550 to +525, leaping the Eagles ever so slightly.

Interestingly, the Browns dropped dramatically after they traded Donovan Peoples-Jones, moving from 35/1 to 40/1, although this could have more to do with the uncertainty surrounding Deshaun Watson’s injured shoulder.

Some were speculating that former Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs could be a fit back in Cleveland, who traded him this preseason.

But Dobbs heads to Minnesota to fill in for Kirk Cousins, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles.

Betting on the NFL?

The Vikings rose to 100/1 with his injury and did not move after they acquired Dobbs.

Buffalo also moved in the wrong direction as of Wednesday, falling from +1200 to +1700 despite acquiring defensive back Rasul Douglas at the deadline.

Perhaps the 2022 trade deadline acquisition of Von Miller led oddsmakers’ expectations just a bit too high.

Lastly, the Bears actually saw their odds drop to 300/1, although other bookmakers are much less bullish, at 1,500/1 after they acquired defensive end Montez Sweat from the Commanders.
