14-year-old Texas girl, NASA intern about to graduate college

Alena McQuarter isn’t like different youngsters.

She graduated from highschool at 12 years outdated, made nationwide headlines because the youngest individual to intern at NASA and is the youngest Black individual to get accepted to medical faculty.

Now, she’s only a few months away from graduating from faculty on the age of 14.

And in some way, the native Texan and teenage prodigy had time to begin the Brown STEMGirl, a company for ladies of coloration who need to examine science, expertise, engineering and math.

“I’ve at all times tried to show that ladies of coloration … they will do what they put their minds to,” she informed USA TODAY final week. “Having the ability to graduate on the age of 12 from highschool and going into faculty, I simply need to encourage different ladies to observe their goals.”

Fourteen-year-old Alena McQuarter is graduating from Arizona State University in December. She's not done yet, though. She plans to pursue a doctorate and is just deciding what school to attend.

‘In love with science’

Alena is a senior at Arizona State University and can graduate in December with a bachelor’s diploma in biomedical organic sciences with a minor in international well being. In Might, she is anticipated to graduate with a grasp’s in organic sciences.

“From the age of 5, 4, round there, I’ve simply been in love with science,” she informed USA TODAY. “And I really like the celebrities.”
